Best Fantasy Waiver Free Agent Pickups Week 15: Dennis Pitta, Toby Gerhart, Daniel Thomas and Josh McCown

The fantasy football season is into the playoffs and that means fantasy owners are scrambling to pick up players to help with injury replacements and on top of that, point are at a premium, making decisions even tougher and that makes players like Dennis Pitta, Toby Gerhart, Daniel Thomas and Josh McCown as well as James Starks and Cordarrelle Patterson the best fantasy waiver pickups for Week 15 of the season.

McCown has been nothing short of brilliant during his run as the starter for the Chicago Bears and this is no knock on Jay Cutler, but he should be the starter on Sunday with the way he has been playing. McCown has the best QB rating in franchise history over a stretch of the four games that he has started in a row and now he comes in with three straight games of at least 340 yards and he is matching up against the Browns on Sunday and that could be another great performance.

McCown has been very accurate this season and he has just one interception with 13 touchdowns and he had a fantastic game against the Cowboys with 348 yards and four touchdowns in the victory on Monday night football. This season he is completing over 65 percent of his passes and he hit on over 70 percent on Monday and over the past two games he has six touchdowns and no interceptions and he should be a solid option if Jay Cutler is out this week.

Dennis Pitta was activated last week and played in his first game of the season against the Vikings and he was a big factor, making a touchdown reception and he also had six catches with 11 targets for 48 yards and he should be a big target for Joe Flacco on Sunday. Flacco loves going to Pitta and he played in nearly 50 percent of the snaps on Sunday and for anyone dealing with an injury to Rob Gronkowski would be wise to pick up Pitta. The ravens are in a tough playoff race and with Pitta coming back he could get some nice production.

Adrian Peterson was able to practice this week, but picking up Toby Gerhart is a good idea, as Peterson likely will be limited after injuring his foot against the Vikings. Gerhart is a solid start option if Peterson is limited, as he is averaging nearly eight yards per carry this season and has been solid rushing the ball, going for 89 yards last week in spot duty and he had a nice 41-yard touchdown run at the end of the game that was very impressive.

Daniel Thomas is a solid option for the Dolphins with Lamar Miller getting a concussion and he performed well against the Steelers, going for over 100 yards and scoring a touchdown. This week he has a solid matchup with the Patriots and he should be getting plenty of touches if Miller is limited.
