The English Premier League schedule picks up on Wednesday for New Year's Day with a number of big games, as Arsenal is taking on Cardiff City at Emirates Stadium and the lower team has a new manager and the Gunners come into the day in the lead on the EPL table and that is a nice boost after Liverpool knocked them off for a bit and now the Gunners will be playing at 10 am ET against Cardiff on the NBC live extra streaming online.

The match comes after Manchester City won over Swansea early in the day to jump ahead on the league table for the time being, but if Arsenal can take care of business, it will be short lived. Arsene Wenger does not underestimate opponents and playing at home should give the Gunners a distinct advantage and now they have the chance to jump back into the lead in the standings and they are up over Chelsea as well as Liverpool and Everton right now and Manchester United has been playing well as of late and they are now sixth on the table and could continue to move up on Wednesday. Tottenham is next on the table and they come into the da playing solid for new manager Tim Sherwood and now he is looking to prove why the club made the right decision to keep him in charge.

Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to take over as manager at Premier League Cardiff City, Norwegian media reported on Wednesday.

Norway's TV2 said that a Malaysian-registered private jet had landed at Kvernberget airport in Kristiansund, close to where the 40-year-old Solskjaer lives.

Citing sources close to the board of Norwegian club Molde, where Solskjaer has been manager for the past three seasons, TV2 reported that negotiations are at an advanced stage and that he is due to take over before Saturday's FA Cup tie against Newcastle United.

TV2 said that a plane registered to Berjaya Air - owned by Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan - and destined for London's Luton airport took off at 1050 local time.

Solskjaer has won two league titles and the Norwegian cup since taking over at Molde, and was previously linked with vacancies at Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion.

Previous Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay was sacked on December 27, seven months after winning promotion to the Premier League.

Cardiff, who play Premier League leaders Arsenal on Wednesday, are 16th in the table at the halfway point of the season. (Reuters)
