The English Premier League schedule picks up again on Thursday for a set of New Year's Day matches and the top game is Manchester United hosting Tottenham at Old Trafford and the match will be starting up at 12:30 pm et on the NBC Sports Network and streaming on the live extra website.
After an exciting set of games last week and on Boxing Day the league table has Arsenal back on top and they currently have the lead over Manchester City after the Gunners pulled out the win on Sunday and they are up over Man City, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool heading into the start of the 2014 schedule. Arsenal has 42 points for a one point lead over Manchester City and Chelsea comes in next on the table with 40 points, while Everton is next on the table with 37 points and the former leaders in Liverpool are next on the list with 36 points in the fifth position.
Manchester United has been playing better in recent weeks and they have been moving up the league table and now Man U is in sixth position with 34 points ahead of Tottenham, who has the same amount of points and is still getting used to having a new manager in Tim Sheewood, who took over for Andre Villas-Boas when he was relieved of his duties as boss. Newcastle United and Southampton are ahead of Hull City and Swansea City, while Stoke City and Aston Villa are next on the EPL table.

The matches over the weekend saw some exciting matches and the schedule on Sunday saw Everton win a nice match over Southampton to keep pace on the league table and the team got goals from Seamus Coleman and Romelu Lukaku to get the victory after Gaston Ramirez toed things up in the 71st minute. Arsenal took back the lead on the Premier League table with their victory on Sunday against Newcastle United and the lone goal in the match came from Olivier Giroud, while Chelsea also came out on top of Liverpool in a hard fought match despite going down by a goal just three minutes in with a score from Martin Skrtel. The team rebounded quickly with two goals less then 20 minutes apart from Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto'o to get the victory and now they are in striking distance of the top of the league table heading into the start of the 2014 schedule.
Tottenham comes into the match after a dominating 3-0 win against Stoke City and the team got the scoring started with a penalty from Roberto Soldado before scoring two goals just four minutes apart in the second half from Mousa Dembele and Aaron Lennon and those goals may come in handy on the league table.
