The Chicago Bears ended any questions about the future of Jay Cutler, as the team signed their quarterback to a seven year deal and now Marc Trestman and Phil Emery have put their eggs in one basket and they will move forward into 2014 with their franchise quarterback after rumors came out that he could be leaving.

Cutler would have been a prime free agent option on the market and now the 30-year-old likely will end his career with the Bears if all goes according to plan. According to Pro Football Talk, the team signed Cutler to a seven year contract instead of tagging him with the franchise tag and now he will continue to be the starting quarterback despite not being able to play a full schedule yet awhile in Chicago. This comes a few years after the team acquired Cutler from the Denver Broncos and with Matt Forte at RB, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery at wide receiver, the team feels set on offense for many years.

Cutler was rumored to be an option for teams willing to spend money in free agency, but now he obviously will be with the Bears long term and his contract runs until 2020. Cutler was injured again this season and while Josh McCown played well, Marc Trestman never flirted with keeping him as the starter and now Cutler has the job for a number of years down the road.
