The NY Giants are making some big changes on offense after bringing in Ben McAdoo to run things and that meant the departure of longtime New York assistant Mike Pope and he has now defected to the rival Dallas Cowboys to be their tight ends coach.

According to Fox Sports and Pro Football Talk, Pope will take over for coach Wes Phillips, who is now with the Washington Redskins and Pope comes over after spending two decades with the Giants and having his name on all four of their Super Bowl championship trophies. The Giants lost an important assistant in Pope and now McAdoo will really get to put his stamp on the offense and while the G-Men will be fine, it must hurt to lose Pope to a division rival.

Eli Manning and Victor Cruz have raved about the new offense from McAdoo and now Pope will get the chance to work with one of the best tight ends of all-time in Jason Witten and that comes after he had to work with new tight ends in each of the last three seasons for NY.

The news was first reported on Twitter from Mike Garafolo, writing "Cowboys will add former Giants TE coach Mike Pope to Jason Garrett's staff. Replaces Wes Phillips, who went to Washington."
