The NFL Pro Bowl rosters in 2014 are now set and the full draft results have selections for both offensive and defensive players for the Honolulu all-star game and now AFC and NFC players will be on the same team, as Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders were made captains and picked the pool of players after starting with Drew Brees, Robert Quinn, JJ Watt and Jamaal Charles.
The NFL decided to change the rules for the Pro Bowl and instead of splitting players by conference with the AFC and NFC, the league went with a pool fantasy draft like the NHL did in the hopes that it will boost interest and excitement in the game. Over the past couple years the Pro Bowl has been criticized for the level of play and the league threatened to cancel it if the players didn't start playing harder and now the new draft may help bring some excitement to the game and it could make for one of the best in a few years.
The picks on the first day had Drew Brees and Robert Quinn getting picked by Rice for his team, while Sanders took Watt and Charles, who was one of the most productive players in the NFL this season. Sanders went hard on defense with Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy and he also took Marcell Dareus before Rice took Ben Grubbs and Evan Mathis. Sanders snagged Mike Pouncey and Alex Mack, while Rice was hit with Ryan Kalil and Nick Mangold and now the rest of the teams are getting filled out for the game, which will be the week before the Super Bowl game on February 2 at MetLife Stadium and the all-star matchup will be from Hawaii.
