French Open 2012: Maria Sharopova Wins Career Grand Slam, Celebration on Twitter

The final of French Open 2012 was a night to remember for Maria Sharapova as she defeated her opponent, Sara Errani, in completing her career Grand Slam.

Sharapova, with the advantage of being about 10 inches taller than Errani, showed no mercy on her Italian-opponent and slammed each stroke with much power. On Saturday’s game, Sharapova defeated Errani, 6-3 and 6-2. Although Sharapova was to move to No. 1 position regardless of Saturday’s game result, reclaiming the top position that she once had in 2008 with a career Grand Slam is going to be memorable.

Tennis stars and celebrities have congratulated the Russian sports star on twitter.

Patrick McEnroe, a 16 titles holder including the 1989 French Open doubles, wrote, “HUGE congrats to Maria Sharapova on amazing journey back to #1 and winning rolandgarros. Toughest mentally of her generation. Max said it.”

Elena Vesnia, from Sharapova’s country, said, “Congratulations to Maria Sharapova for winning RG and having all Slams under her belt! Well done Masha!”

The Pittsburg Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger also added his remark, twitted, “She won Wimbledon with fearlessness, US with fight, Australia with her serve, and now France with her movement. A true champion.”

The author of “Alchemist", Paulo Coelho was also among the list. “You danced like a fairy, you fought like a tigress. BRAVO Maria Sharapova!”

Again, huge congratulations to Maria Sharapova for the 10th women to have a career Grand Slam and her effort to come back to the top after the slump from shoulder surgery.
