Syracuse and Maryland are playing live on Monday for an ESPN college basketball game in the ACC conference and the matchup will be from the Comcast Center in MD and comes as the Orange have dropped their last two games since starting undefeated and now the Terrapins are looking to make it three in a row for Jim Boeheim's team.
Syracuse is now fourth in the standings in the AP Top 25 after losing to Boston College and Duke in consecutive games and the matchups were close and now Florida is at number one, followed by Wichita State, Arizona, Cuse and the Kansas in fifth place. Syracuse comes into the game after the tough loss to Duke and that ended after their head coach freaked out at a call at the end of the game at Cameron Indoor and now the Orange are looking to bounce back after starting off 25-0 and now they have lost two games in a row for the first time in quite a long while. The team has CJ Fair and Tyler Ennis playing well and they will need them to get back on track.
The Orange are 12-2 on the season in the ACC and they are one and half games back of Virginia in the standings, while the Cavaliers are first with a 14-1 record. The team has a nice lead heading into the back stretch and Duke is next in the standings with an 11-4 record, while rival North Carolina is one game behind them in the standings. Syracuse plays against Virginia on the road next and that could help decide the ACC title, while the team is averaging 70 points per game and that will be put on the line on Monday night.
The team finishes the schedule against Virginal on the road and then they play against Georgia Tech at the Carrier Dome and that comes before the team ends with Florida State in Tallahassee. Syracuse has the chance to get things right over the next four games and that leads into the ACC tournament and that should be one of the best ever heading into things this season.
Maryland comes into the game ranked 60th in the nation in rebounding and they are averaging over 71 points per game and they face an Orange team that is ranked seventh in defense and that will be very tough to overcome. The team is allowing less than 70 points per game and they come in after a win against Wake Forest and after playing against Syracuse they have a matchup on the road against the Clemson Tigers.
The Terps are in the middle of the pack in the ACC and they could make some noise come conference tournament time and heading into the back stretch they play against Clemson and Virginia Tech before ending the season against number 12 Virginia. The team has not played Syracuse yet this season and now the Orange will look to get back on the winning side of things after losing two straight and falling to fourth in the rankings.
