Thunder Beat Heat 105-94, Durant Denies James’ First Step for the Ring

At the NBA finals Game 1 Tuesday night at Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Center, the Thunder beat the Heat by 105-94. Kevin Durant won the top of this game by 36 points. Reigning MVP LeBron James from Miami Heat scored 30 points, but could not save the team from losing.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s play got better and better after each quarter. On the other hand, Miami Heat was not able to keep the momentum at the beginning.

In the first quarter, the Heat had a good start just as they usually did. Heat was beating the Thunder by seven points at the end of the first quarter. However, the host didn’t let the Heat enjoy the game much longer.

Thunder scored the same amount of scores as Heat in the second quarter, and they took the lead by the end of third quarter, 74-73. Thunder was able to run away with additional points, while Heat only scored one, in the first three minutes of the last quarter.

"The transition is a major key. It's easier said than done, and they're saying the same thing about because we generate a lot of our offense from steals and those long rebounds; they do the same thing; they have great length; great athleticism; when they are able to turn you over, forget about it,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.

Russell Westbook, the Thunder’s point guard, scored 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 assists for the team. Dwyane Wade had 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists for the Heat.

The next game will be on Thursday night at Oklahoma City.
