The Colorado Rockies and Miami Marlins are playing on the MLB schedule and they are finishing up their series at Marlins Park on Thursday and the game comes at 12:40 pm and has the two teams looking to get a victory and the Marlins can clinch the series win to open the season and it will be Franklin Morales against Jacob Turner on the mound.
The Rockies come in after a win against the Marlins in the last game and now they are 1-2 on the season while Miami is 2-1 and they have scored 10 runs in three games and that has been a solid start for the team. The Rockies missed the playoffs last season and are hoping to get back after being a losing team and they now rank eighth in the league in batting average and 13th in slugging percentage and if they can keep those numbers from dipping, they should be able to have a stronger season than last year.
The team comes in battling with the LA Dodgers and Diamondbacks in the division and the San Francisco Giants should be improved as well and that could make the NL West one of the toughest divisions in baseball. The pitching has been spotty early, but that has always been an issue for the Rockies and it will be interesting to see how things go when they return home, as they will open against the Diamondbacks at Coors Field and this comes after Todd Helton retired last season, ending a great run with the team and now Justin Mourneau is at first base for him.
Miami comes in after a loss and that followed wins in the first two games of the series and they have been off to a solid start on offense, as the team now ranks second in the league in runs and sixth in batting average and funny enough, it's the Mariners in the lead through three games in runs and they have been playing very well. Jose Fernandez started off the season hot for the Marlins and now the team has the chance to get their third quality start in four games and that would be a promising beginning to the season for the team.
