The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers are battling on Thursday in an MLB game that will be live streaming online from the league website from Comerica Park and it starts up at 1:08 pm ET and has the Tigers looking for the sweep of KC and pitchers Anibal Sanchez and Yordano Ventura will be on the mound for the teams.
The Tigers are coming into this season as division champs from last year and KC is looking to continue the progress they made a season ago when they finished with a winning record for the first time in a decade. The team now has a ton of young talent looking to produce and names like Eric Hosmer, Alex Gordon and Billy Butler have the chance to compete for a playoff spot and while the division will be hard to win, KC should be right there with the Cleveland Indians and the Tigers after those two teams made the playoffs a year ago. Sanchez was great for the Tigers last season and he comes in as the third starter behind two past Cy Young winners in Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer and he will be looking to get the win on Thursday.
The Tigers are looking to start the season with a sweep and they are going against Sanchez after he had his best season in the majors and he ended up winning 14 games with a sub 3.00 ERA and he also had over 200 strikeouts and that should make him tough this season. Sanchez set a mark with his record last season and he is looking to continue that strong pitching and it comes as he is 3-1 with a 0.92 ERA against KC in the last four games and that is good news for the Tigers as they open 2-0 and they are looking to win their first four games to match what they did in 2012.
The team won off Alex Gonzalez's single in the first game and they played in 10 innings on Wednesday and the home run came for Kinsler in the fourth inning and then Joe Nathan let things go as he tries to close out the game. It was his first blown save at the ballpark in 20 chances and now both teams are looking to finish off the series with a win and one player to watch is Gordon, as he has had past success with Sanchez. The Tigers come into the game in the bottom half on offense through two games, but they have two wins so it isn't a big deal and their pitching has been strong to no one's surprise with Verlander and Scherzer getting the first two starts of the season.
