MLB Standings 2014: Baseball Division Leaders, AL and NL Team Records As Baseball Schedule Into Late April

The MLB standings for 2014 have some early division leaders and the records for those teams has the Oakland Athletics and Milwaukee Brewers with the best records in baseball, while the Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, LA Dodgers, Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blues Jays are leading the division in the AL and NL.

The American League East has the Toronto Blue Jays in first place in the early goings of the season, while the New York Yankees are next on the list along with the Tampa Bay Rays. The East has a deep roster of talent and the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox will remain in the mix as the season pushes on into the summer. The Red Sox are World Series champs and the Yankees spent like the old days, so naturally the Blue Jays are in first place.

The Central has the Detroit Tigers in first place and they have just six wins but only four losses, while the Chicago White Sox have been surprising and they are in second place in the early goings. The Minnesota Twins have not been as bad as expected and they are ahead in the standings over the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals.

The Oakland A's are first in the AL West over the surprising Seattle Mariners and while they have slumped a bit of late, they still are over .500 and next over the Texas Rangers, who are just a half game back after winning over the M's on Tuesday. The Wednesday matchup will have Felix Hernandez and Yu Darvish facing off and that could be one of the best games of the year and this comes as the LA angels and Houston Astros are in the bottom part of the division to start the year.

The National League has the Atlanta Braves in first place over the Washington Nationals in the east, while the NY Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are next over the Miami Marlins at four games back. The Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in baseball and they lead the St. Louis Cardinals by one game and they are ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs as well.

The west division has the San Francisco Giants in first place and they are ahead of the LA Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks, who are just 4-13 this season.
