NBA Finals 2012 Game 5 Predictions: LeBron James and Kevin Durant Will Dominate

In the past, we have had NBA greats match up in the Finals. In 2012, fans have had the luxury of watching Kevin Durant and LeBron James face off in the biggest stage of professional basketball.

There are two reasons why I believe both stars will go off tonight as they both look to lead their teams to victory.

For Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder, this could be the end of the road. This season does not have the right ending if the Thunder lose. They went through the previous NBA champions from the Western Conference to end up in the Finals.

The first round, semis and Western Conference Finals were supposed to be a symbol of the Thunder taking the baton and running through the Heat to get the NBA trophy.

Durant will not see this simply disappear after just five games in the Finals. Tonight he might become a Point-Forward and run the offense for the Thunder.

He is a feared shooter and can also drive. Durant has been criticized for not making enough trips to the free throw line.

So far in the Finals he has not been to the line more than nine times in a game.

Whatever Durant decides to do in Game 5, he has to remember to keep his cool because chances are that he will not get calls to go his way.

So far in the Finals he has averaged 30.3 points a game, one point higher than what LeBron has averaged.

Speaking of LeBron James, remember the last time the Heat needed to win a game? James went insane, scoring 45 points in Game 6 against the Boston Celtics.

So far in the Finals, he has proved unstoppable from the paint. He has even gone straight at Serge Ibaka, and although not succeeding in all accounts, James is willing to challenge anybody.

The Heat have shown that they can win as a team, so I doubt that James will try to take over immediately.

However, if the Thunder come out rumbling, LeBron will be ready to answer back.

Game 5 is tonight in Miami. Tipoff is at 9PM EDT.

Do yourself a favor and do not miss this game.
