Manchester United Transfer News: Kagawa Arrives in Manchester for a Medical

Shinji Kagawa moved one step closer to formally completing his move to Manchester United after the Japanese playmaker arrived in Manchester for a medical.

United confirmed they have agreed terms with Borussia Dortmund for the midfielder earlier, with the fee understood to be an initial £12 million ($19 million), rising to £17 million ($26.5 million) based on appearances and success.

Before leaving for Manchester, Kagawa, who was on international duty with Japan, told the Japanese media: "It's just a medical check. I hope it will end with no problem."

Kagawa, who was reportedly interesting Arsenal before signing for United, also has to receive a work permit, but that is not understood to be a problem as the 23-year-old has been a regular for Japan for a few years now.

Kagawa, who moved to Dortmund from Japanese side Cerezo Osaka, had a successful spell with Dortmund last season, leading the German side to a League and Cup double and in the process scoring 16 goals.

The Japanese midfielder also won the Bundelsiga title with Dortmund in 2011.

United's other Asian star - Park Ji-Sung had given his vote of confidence for Kagawa, tipping the Japanese to have a stellar Premier League career. "I know United have agreed a deal for Kagawa and I'm happy because we're signing a good player," Park said.

"Manchester United is a huge club and every season, we sign new, world-class names. I hope Kagawa shows how good he is next season and I think he will do."

However, the South Korean's future at United is undecided, with Sir Alex Ferguson expected to let the energetic midfielder to find a new club in the summer.
