The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals are playing on the EPL MLB baseball schedule on Monday night and the matchup from Busch Stadium for the NL central matchup comes as it's rivalry week for some teams across baseball and this game starts up at 8 pm ET on ESPN and will be streaming online from the WatchESPN website with Travis Wood and Tyler Lyons facing off in the pitching matchup.
The Cardinals come into the game at 19-19 on the season and they have not been off to as good of a start as expected and that has come after the loss of Carlos Beltran in the offseason. The team will have Lyons coming in with a 0-2 record on the season and the Cubs have Wood at 2-4 with a four plus ERA and they are 12-24 on the year and are in last place in the NL Central. Apart from the Cubs, the division will be tough, as the Reds, Pirates and Cardinals made the playoffs last season and the Brewers were currently playing as one of the best teams in the MLB this season early on.
The Cardinals come into the game after a crazy game against the Pirates and they won that matchup and Trevor Rosenthal got the save while Shelby Miller got the win. The team won 6-5 in that game and now they will have Lyons before Adam Wainwright pitches and they come in ranked 25th in runs and that is very low for the team. The Cards are also 18th in batting average and 19th in on base percentage this season so far. The pitching has been very good for the team and they are fifth across the board in ERA as well as BAA and WHIP and quality starts they are at 11th and they are looking to improve that against the Cubbies. Charlie Morton had the loss for the Pirates and now the Cardinals are looking to get a streak going in the division, as they come into things in second place.
