The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens are playing Game 6 of their NHL playoffs series on Monday night and the matchup from the Bell Centre comes with the Bruins leading the series 3-2 and now the Canadiens must play for all of Canada and the matchup starts at 7:30 pm ET and comes from the NBC Sports Network and will have a live stream online from the NBCSN Live Extra website as the number one team in the east tries to close out the semis.
The Bruins made it to the Stanley Cup finals last season from the east and now they are looking to advance ahead of the NY Rangers and the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are now into Game 7 and that matchup will be on Tuesday night at the CONSOL Energy Center after NY was able to take Game 6 at MSG. Montreal won the first game of the series in overtime before the two sides have started going back and forth and now both series in the east could end up as seven game series if Montreal can win out on Monday night and that will be tough after the way the Bruins fought in the last game.
The Bruins won 4-2 in the last game and that came on Saturday and that was able to give the team a 3-2 lead in the series and if they lose on Monday, the final matchup of the series will be back in Boston. This is the biggest test for the Canadiens, as they won in four games against the Tampa Bay Lightning and now they are against the ropes and goalie Carey Price will have to have another great game to get the team into the next round. The team won Game 4 in overtime with a goal from Matt Fraser and then they won in the next matchup and now they have the chance for three in a row after going down 2-1 in the series.
The Bruins are no strangers to doing something like that, as they lost Game 1 of the series to the Detroit Red Wings before storming back and they won all four of the next games to advance into the next round of the playoffs. The Canadiens and the Bruins have been here before against each other, as Montreal did this back in 2011 and that allowed Boston to win in Game 7 in overtime and they ended up winning the Cup that season.
Milan Lucic has been the leading scorer for the Bruins and along with Patrice Bergeron they have been attacking the net, while Torey Krug is tops in assists and points for the team. P.K. Subban has been by far the most consistent player for the Canadiens, as he has been leading the team, in points, assists and goals in the playoffs, while Max Pacioretty is leading in shots on goal. The Bruins were able to score two power play goals in 30 seconds in the last game and that was big for the team, as they had been zero for eight in their first four games of the series and that momentum may help carry them on Monday night.
