The LA Dodgers and the NY Mets are playing live on the MLB schedule on Wednesday night and the matchup comes at 7 pm ET on ESPN from Citi Field and has Yasiel Puig coming east from Los Angeles to Queens, New York and it will be streaming online from the WatchESPN website and has Hyun-jin Ryu facing off against Jacob deGrom.
The Mets had to put Dillon Gee on the DL and that is why deGrom got the call up and he got his first start of the season and his career against the Yankees last week and ended up losing 1-0 in a game against fellow rookie Masahiro Tanaka. Ryu is 3-2 on the season and has pitched well against the Mets in the past and the Dodgers come into the game third in the NL west with a 24-22 record and they are 15-9 away on the season. The Mets are just 9-13 at home and are 20-24 on the season and now the two teams will play the second game of their series after LA won the first matchup.
The Dodgers come into the game playing very well on offense and they are ranked in the top 10 across the board, including seventh in runs scored and fourth in batting average. The team is sixth in on base percentage and fifth in slugging percentage and now they have the chance to take the first two against the Mets before the matchup on Thursday. That game is a nice matchup with Zack Greinke and Jonathon Niese going head to head and that could be a great pitching game from both sides. Puig will have a camera on him for the game from ESPN and that is always fun to watch and the team comes in after getting a win from Josh Beckett in the previous game.
The pitching for the Dodgers has been solid and now that Clayton Kershaw is coming back it could be even better. The team is ranked eighth in quality starts and 13th in ERA and they are 18th in both WHIP and BAA. The Mets have struggled hitting the ball this season when not at Yankee Stadium and they are 19th in the league in runs and 29th in batting average and the team is also 25th in on base and 30th in slugging percentage.
Puig is going to be the main focus for both sides once again and he had another lapse play in the field when he threw a ball back into the infield when it was the last out. Puig has been a beast lately and had reached base on over 20 straight games and during that time he has nine home runs and is hitting .333 with over 30 RBIs and he has been great for LA so far this season but has the second most errors and misplays in the outfield.
