The Yankees are having Old Timers Day on Sunday in the Bronx ahead of the game against the Baltimore Orioles and names like Joe Torre, Hideki Matsui, Joe Pepitone, Johnny Damon and Mariano Rivera are at the Stadium for the honor and this is after the team lost on Saturday to the O's and now they will try and bounce back.
The Yankees are in one of the wild card spots now and they are looking to bounce back against the Orioles on Sunday and they are hoping that the presence of some Yankees legends can help out. The Yankees open up a series on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays and that has Chase Whitley throwing for the Yanks at 3-0 and that will be a big series since the team is chasing them in the lead for the division title.
Names like Jeter and CC Sabathia one day should be at the old timers game and this year some new names are there, including Matsui and Damon, who contributed big time to the 2009 World Series. That was the last time the Yankees won the championship and now they are honoring players from that team and players from the past as well.
