The Wednesday afternoon matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers will feature two of the better pitchers in the baseball as Max Scherzer and Zack Greinke face off to close out the series. Both pitchers have bounced back after slow starts to the season and have found their form moving up in the division rankings.

Greinke has truly found his stride, currently tied for the lead in the National League for wins. He has allowed just two earned runs for fewer in 14 of his 18 starts, not facing much adversity in the process. His worst start came back in June when he gave up five runs and 11 hits. Since then, he has given up one run and struck out 10 in seven innings before giving up one earned run and striking out eight in his most recent start.

The Tigers will counter with an ace of their own. Scherzer had his worst game back in June as well, giving up 10 runs in an 11-4 loss, but has bounced back nicely going 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in his last three starts. He struck out 28 batters in 21 innings of play during that stretch. In his most recent start, he gave up just one run and two hits to the Tampa Bay Rays. He has retired the last 23 of 24 batters faced. The Tigers are leading the American League central as a result.

Detroit is also finding success at the plate. Miguel Cabrera, JD Martinez, Torii Hunter and Rajai Davis all continue to lead the way in the lineup. Martinez is currently batting .429 on a seven-game hit streak. In Tuesday night's game, they helped the Tigers snap a three-game losing streak while putting up a season high 20 hits in the process. The Dodgers game up around 10 unanswered runs as Detroit went on to win 14-5.
