As Tour de France hits Stage 2, cyclists wrapped up their relatively flat 207.5 Kilometers sprint. Mark Cavendish crossed the finish line first in the second stage after a tight  race that was equivalent to just over 128 mile.

Cavendish, who is 27, sprinted past his opponents to win his 21st career stage victory. 

Close behind Cavendish were the Australian defending champion, Cadel Evans and Bradley Wiggins in a stage that ran from Visé to Tournai in the northern part of France. 

Cavendish captured the victory despite his Sky team trying to focus on getting Wiggins a victory. If Wiggins were to capture Tour de France, it would be the first time a British cyclist ever won the competition.

Despite Cavendish's great effort, Fabian Cancellara is still in the overall lead. He got off to a fast start winning the Tour's prologue on Saturday. Wiggins is in second and Evans is 10 seconds back in 8th place. 

Tomorrow, the scenery will change as they race on medium mountain ranges in a stage three that spans for 197 kilometers from Orchies  to Boulogne-sur-Mer.

It will be the first of four medium mountain ranges in the competition. 

The cyclists will be racing through the remaining 18 stages and will have two days of rests in the Tour de France. The end of the competition will be on July 22nd.
