The Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians are playing on the MLB schedule on Wednesday night at Progressive Field and the game is live at 7:05 pm ET and has an ace matchup with Felix Hernandez taking on Corey Kluber and the M's will be looking to win two in a row after winning the game on Tuesday and this is a crucial matchup as both try and stay in the wild card race.
The Mariners come into the game hoping to give King Felix what he needs, as three of his last four starts have been no decisions and they want him to get another win. Felix is having the best season of his career and he is in a stretch that is historic, as he has now gone 13 straight starts with at least seven innings and two earned runs or less. Felix can break the tie with Tom Seaver if he does it again and the Mariners will try and score some runs like they did last night, including four in one inning.
The team lost five one run games last week and now as the trade deadline approaches they could be going for a bat. The Indians have Daniel Murphy and Michael Brantley hitting well along with Carlos Santana and those are the names to watch for Felix. The team has now lost seven of nine and the Mariners hope to keep that going and now Hernandez wants to finally snap things back and this is a park where he has not always done so great.
The Mariners had not won in Cleveland since 2012 and those losses were on numerous walk offs and that made it even sweeter when the team won on Tuesday. Kluber comes in after going perfect into the seventh in his last start and eh has been an ace and now he will try and slow down Dustin Ackley, who is having a fantastic July for the Mariners and now is hitting leadoff for the team.
The Mariners have had trouble scoring runs all season and now it has been a major issue, as they were in the second wild card coming into the all-star break, but now they have fallen out. The team needs to make a move or start getting hot soon, or they will be out of the playoffs yet again. The team is getting James Paxton back soon and that is sort of like a trade and they need to improve on offense as they are ranked 26th in the league in runs. The pitching has been amazing and the team is first in ERA and WHIP as well as BAA and their bullpen has been one of the best and most consistent in baseball.
