Fantasy Football Keepers 2014: PPR Players To Keep Include Danny Woodhead, Rashad Jennings, Jamaal Charles

The fantasy football season for 2014 is getting close to starting and this year some keep players to look at are Danny Woodhead, Rashad Jennings, Jamaal Charles and Matt Forte, especially in PPR leagues, as those players should clean up with receptions and rushing yards this season.

The San Diego Chargers are coming into the 2014 season with high expectations and the offense is one reason why and this year Danny Woodhead, Ryan Mathews and Donald Brown should be a tandem to watch for fantasy owners, as Mike McCoy likes to use his running backs all over the field and after Woodhead signed a new extension, he could be in line for a big season.

The Chargers missed the playoffs last season, but the team was in it right until the end and Philip Rivers looks like he has returned to form and that is a welcome sight for Woodhead and San Diego. According to ESPN.com, Woodhead signed an extension with San Diego and now the running back will be with the team for the next three years and it comes after he left the Patriots before last season. Woodhead was excellent in San Diego last year and he was a perfect fit for the offense, coming in second on the team in catches with 76 catches for 605 yards and he also had 429 rushing yards and scored eight touchdowns overall.

The Chargers also released Larry English this week after five years and it comes after he dealt with injuries for most of his career. According to ESPN.com, the former first round pick was released with $1.5 million coming to him on the last year of his rookie contract and the team felt set at pass rusher with Dwight Freeney coming in along with Melvin Ingram.

The Chargers use a no huddle offense and the running backs often get used in the passing game and that perfectly fits what Woodhead does. Woodhead has Brown and Mathews in the backfield and that gives the Chargers one of the strongest trios at running back in the league. Fantasy owners would be wise to snag at least two of these running backs and if anyone drafts Mathews, picking up either Brown or Woodhead is a must for a handicap.

The Chargers signed Donald Brown this offseason to a three year deal and now they have Woodhead in on an extension and that could mean the writing is on the wall for Ryan Mathews. The Chargers have him in the last year of his contract and while he had 1,255 yards last season and made it through healthy for the first time, it looks like the team is planning on letting him go. Mathews and Woodhead are the best options for PPR owners and the Chargers likely will use a heavy rotation behind Mathews.
