The Kevin Love trade is all but official and now rumors have the Cleveland Cavaliers acquiring the Minnesota Timberwolves star for a package with Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett along with a first round pick and the 76ers also could be involved to make a three way deal and Love also will sign a 5-year contract with $120 million after he opts out of his deal next summer in free agency, giving the Cavs a three headed monster of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Love.
According to ESPN.com, the deal between the Cavaliers and the Timberwolves has been agreed to and the Cavs will acquire Love at the August 23 deadline when Andrew Wiggins can be traded. Wiggins was taken number one overall by the Cavaliers and many expected the team to build around him and Kyrie Irving, but once LeBron James came home plans changed. The team now is sending Wiggins along with Anthony Bennett and a first round pick to the Timberwolves for Love and he will sign a long term contract next year in free agency.
Love is one of the best young players in the league and he is coming off of a career year that saw him score 25 points per game and average 12 rebounds. Love now tips the scales in the east and his move is a major one, as the cavaliers are now the easy favorites for the east title and possibly for the championship as well and surely Vegas will reflect that. Love and LeBron have played together before and now this gives the Cavaliers and more balanced roster between veterans and younger players and that could end the title drought in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers now have Love in the fold and while the Timberwolves are happy with having Andrew Wiggins, they may try and flip Anthony Bennett to the Philadelphia 76ers for Thaddeus Young. The deal between the Cavaliers and the Timberwolves has been going on for quite a while and now things look like they will be fully done in August and there still is a chance it could be a three team trade.
The Wolves got a nice package for Love and had they not traded him, he basically said he was leaving and now they have a new player to build around in Wiggins. The team has Ricky Rubio as well as Zach LaVine after drafting him in the first round and if they keep Bennett, great, but if not, the 76ers deal for Young is also a nice option.
