The Kevin Love trade is close to happening and now Thaddeus Young looks to be a major part of the deal, as the Philadelphia 76ers will send him to the Minnesota Timberwolves and the trade will not be for Anthony Bennett as expected, but for Luc Richard Mbah A Moute and Alexey Shved along with a draft pick and that means the Cavaliers get Kevin Love, while the Wolves get Young and their two young prospects.
According to ESPN.com, the Wolves were able to figure out a deal that the Sixers liked without trading Bennett and that is a huge move in this trade. Love is moving now for value and the Wolves should feel good about this haul, as they are getting two number one overall picks along with a solid player like Young. Wiggins and Bennett have star potential and now they have the chance to play and flourish out of Cleveland.
The trade cannot go down until August 23 since Wiggins signed his rookie deal and now that date is finally here. There were rumors about the 76ers getting involved and now Bennett is reportedly staying in Minnesota once he gets traded. The Cavs are thrilled to get Love and now they think they have a championship team together.
The Love trade is for Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, but depending on how things play out, the Timberwolves can work a deal with Philly to get Young, as they see him as a possible replacement for Kevin Love on their team in the front court. Obviously Love is a better player than Young, but he is an excellent defender and rebounder and he also is a solid scorer on the offensive side of things.
Earlier reports had the Sixers looking at Bennett, this post has been updated above. The Philadelphia 76ers may get in on the Kevin Love trade talks as the third team and they could trade Thaddeus Young for Anthony Bennett, as the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking for a replacement for their star and Young has been reported as a target and that could come along with the move with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bennett has been part of the deal for Love since the beginning and he originally was offered along with Dion Waiters and a first round pick. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Wolves may try and flip Bennett to Philadelphia as part of the trade if it becomes a three team deal, as they want to get Thaddeus Young as a replacement for Love. The Sixers aren't guaranteed to get in on this deal, but getting Bennett for Young would fit into what Sam Hinkie has been doing while trading for young players and draft picks.
