Queens Park Rangers are on the verge of completing the signing for South Korean superstar Park Ji-Sung from Manchester United.
It is understood the London club have already agreed a £5 million ($7.7 million) fee and the move will be made official once all the relevant paperwork is completed.
Park, who has won four Premier League titles and one Champions League crown during his time with United, moved to Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven in 2005.
While he was never a shoo-in for the starting line-up, the midfielder became one of Sir Alex Ferguson's favorite players, impressing the Scot with his work rate and desire to do a job for his team, and became a permanent fixture during United's games against the big teams.
Park, who is understood to have been swayed by QPR's ambitious project, began his professional career in Japan with Kyoto Purple Sanga as an 18-year-old.
The all-action midfielder impressed for his country in the 2002 World Cup, where South Korea as hosts, went on to reach the semi-finals, upsetting Italy on the way.
Guus Hiddink, who was Korea's coach during that World Cup, took Park to PSV, where he played for three years, before making his move to the English Premier League and United for a £4 million ($6.2 million) fee.
QPR start their pre-season training on Monday and have scheduled a press conference to make a major announcement, which they believe will turn the club into a "global brand."
Park could be the catalyst for such a change, with the Korean playing a major role in United cracking the Asian market. The 31-year-old was, sometimes harshly, referred to as a shirt-selling purchase. However, his brand value in the Asian market is in no doubt and fellow Asian owner of QPR, Tony Fernandes will be well aware of that.
QPR are also looking at building a new stadium and the major announcement could be on those lines as well, with Fernandes saying three potential sites were being evaluated.
On Tuesday, he posted on Twitter, a few minutes after the West London club said a major announcement would be made on Monday. "Excellent stadium meeting. Wow. Looks great. Going to make big announcement. Hopefully see amit [Bhatia, vice-chairman] in a few hours to brief him. Wow."
He then added: "Stadium will be in west london. Will not lose overall atmosphere. Lots to do and many pitfalls but great first step."
