Patriots Rumors: Tim Wright, Aaron Dobson Fantasy Football Sleeper Picks as Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski Health Questioned? Tom Brady Praises 2014 Offense

The New England Patriots got their first look at new tight end Tim Wright on Thursday in the team's final preseason game. New England certainly gave up a lot to get the tight end, sending Pro Bowler Logan Mankins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, making quarterback Tom Brady very unhappy. However, Wright impressed on Thursday at the arm of backup Jimmy Garoppolo, leaving Brady very pleased with his new offensive target.

Wright has only been with the Patriots for less than a week and already he is looking better than anything Danny Amendola did last season. The tight end put up four catches for 43 yards looking very comfortable in the offense considering he was working primarily with the backups. ESPN's Mike Reiss reported that the Patriots were more than pleased with Wright's performance, predicting he will get plenty of playing time this upcoming season.

"Football is football, so it's easy to get prepared," Wright said, via ESPN.com. "We have great coaches to get me prepared. It's a great opportunity. It's a great organization led by great coaches. It's still early. I have a lot to learn, and I'm just ready to go."

Wright could be one of the most important pickups for the Patriots this season given the uncertainty surrounding Rob Gronkowski. The tight end has not been seen this preseason, while choosing his team drills in training camp carefully. Gronkowski claims that he will be healthy and ready for Week 1 of the season, but with Wright's progress, New England might opt to let him take his time returning to the field. Technically, both tight ends play difference positions and can co-exist on the field together much like Aaron Hernandez did, but Wright can easily take Gronkowski's place if need be.

Another player that likely saved a roster spot for himself is Aaron Dobson. The wide receiver has been struggling with injuries and as Brandon LaFell continues to impress, Dobson looked to be at risk of getting released. His 2014 debut was solid, catching three passes for 59 yards and a touchdown, looking much like the rookie star he was last year. Dobson's biggest issue will be his health. If he can stay healthy all season, the Patriots offense should be in a good spot.

Amendola has once again been quiet this preseason, along with Julian Edelman. In their spots, LaFell and Kenbrell Thompkins have become top targets for Brady. Mixing the mismatch nightmare of Wright and New England should be pretty well off this upcoming season.
