The Seattle Mariners and Oakland A's are playing live on the MLB schedule in afternoon on Monday for Labor Day and the game is a big one in the AL West and playoff race in the American League wild card, as the Athletics are scuffling and the M's are in playoff position as the September part of the calendar hits and this game is streaming live from MLB.com online and on the radio with Chris Young and Jason Hammel on the mound.

The Mariners are coming off of a string win to salvage their series against the Nationals after losing two in a row, while the A's are in a freefall this month and they just got swept in four games by the Angels. The team now is hoping to at least hold on to the wild card spot and they now have to make up some games if they want to win the west. Playing the Mariners usually meant some easy wins, but the team is much better this season and Robinson Cano has been living up to his contract and they will not be easy to face off against.

The team will also have to face Felix Hernandez this series and the A's really need to snap into shape if they want to make the playoffs. The Tigers and Yankees are also in wild card position and are chasing those spots and the Royals also will be a factor in all of this in the AL West. Oakland has been slumping since making that massive trade for Jon Lester and now they have added Adam Dunn to try and spark some offense.

Oakland has lost four in a row and they are looking to stop that streak now against the Mariners at home after losing away at Anaheim in another bad game, giving up eight runs. The Mariners are still pretty far out of the division race, but now they are facing off against one of the teams they are directly chasing in the wild card and this could be a major series, as they have another divisional road matchup after this and they end the season with three at home against the Angels.
