NFL News and Rumors: Should Roger Goodell Resign Over Domestic Violence Controversy? Investigation Starts Over Janay Palmer Video

The NFL is dealing with a huge controversy and while calls for Roger Goodell to resign have gone unheeded, the commissioner may not have a choice depending on what is found in the independent investigation that is being headed up by former FBI director Robert Mueller, which will look into the NFL's handling of the Ray Rice case and whether they were willfully ignorant about the Janay Palmer video supposedly in their possession.

According to ESPN.com, there will be an independent investigation into the NFL and their handling of this issue and there is a chance that it will find that the league did not do enough. Goodell has been called to resign and both the Ravens and NFL appear to be willfully ignorant about what happened.

The NFL and the Ravens knew what happened in that elevator after speaking with Rice and speaking with authorities and whether they saw the video or not, they have a major problem.

From ESPN.com: A league executive, speaking early Wednesday before the AP report was released, didn't believe the Rice controversy would cost Goodell his job -- unless the video was viewed before Monday.

"No," the executive told ESPN.com, "but if Goodell and the league saw the video beforehand, he is not commissioner in March for the league meetings."
