Minnesota Vikings Rumors: Adrian Peterson Trade To Dallas Cowboys As Matt Asiata, Jerick McKinnon, Teddy Bridgewater Fantasy Football Pickups Week 5

The Minnesota Vikings have Adrian Peterson out of the mix and a trade could be an option in the future for the star RB to the Dallas Cowboys, as Jerry Jones has shown interest in him and while that's going on, fantasy football owners should look at Matt Asiata, Jerick McKinnon and Teddy Bridgewater, as those two will be start options in Week 4 for the Vikes with AP and Matt Cassel out.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Vikings are ready to start Teddy Bridgewater for the rest of the season with Matt Cassel out. Cassel was placed on IR with an injury and now he is out and Matt Asiata comes in as the starter at RB again. Fantasy owners have gotten some solid play from Asiata and both him and Bridgewater have the chance to put up some numbers for owners. Jerick McKinnon comes in as the backup for Asiata and he has the chance to get some solid carries as well behind Asiata in the game on Sunday.

According to ESPN.com, Peterson is still hoping to make a return to the NFL this season and this comes as it's looking increasingly likely that he has played his last game with the Vikings. ESPN sources report that Peterson is still "coming to grips" with the fact that his 2014 season is over and also that he will likely not be able to break the all-time rushing record of Emmitt Smith, something he had spoken about previously in his career.

Peterson is facing child abuse charges in Texas and he was placed on the exempt list after previously being deactivated for Week 2 by the Vikings and then reactivated before finally ending up off the field. Peterson is considered to be one of the best running backs in the NFL and he is currently being paid while on the exempt list and while the Vikings can activate Peterson again this season, sources have said that it's unlikely that will happen. Pro Football Talk reports that a date is likely to be set for Peterson's trial soon and it could happen before the season is over.

Earlier in the summer a report came out about a phone call between Jerry Jones and Peterson about the possibility of ending his career in Dallas, but all of that is up in the air with Peterson's current situation. The Vikings received plenty of blowback after deactivating and then bringing back Peterson and now they are likely to keep him off the field for this season. Peterson is getting paid nearly $12 million this season and he is currently awaiting a hearing in Texas that will lead towards his trial on child abuse charges.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson remains on the exempt list and away from the team and it is looking likely that his trade or release could happen in the future over a 2014 season return and a team like the Dallas Cowboys has expressed interest in trading for Peterson in the past and that could be an option for the RB after dealing with his child abuse case.
