Washington Redskins Rumors: Robert Griffin III Under Fire From Jay Gruden As Future RG3 Trade Possible With More Losses?

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has received criticism for his play as of late and head coach Jay Gruden was pointed in his remarks after the loss against the Buccaneers Sunday and now he could consider making a change to Colt McCoy after Week 12 if the Redskins continue losing and RG3 struggles against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Redskins did not looks good on Sunday against the Buccaneers and RG3 had one of his worst games as a pro, missing open receivers and turning the ball over. According to the Washington Post, Gruden was very critical in his remarks after the game, describing Griffin as "fundamentally flawed" in the game and also about how he missed throws and drop backs, although he did walk back some of those comments a day later. Gruden's remarks were just some of the many responses about Griffin, as the media and many former players also had opinions.

Steve Young spoke on the radio about the work ethic of RG3 and that some of his past coaches have questioned it, while former Redskins players have said they were embarrassed by the performance on Sunday. It didn't help much that Griffin appeared to throw his teammates under the bus with his remarks after the game on Sunday and he later responded to those on social media. Griffin often goes to social media to make statements and that is one of his problems, as he hears everything and always feels the need to defend himself, when it might be better just to stick to football.

Griffin tried to pull the Bill Belichick with his "on to San Francisco routine", but coming from him it just sounded like more attitude than anything else. Griffin has the chance to turn things around with a good game this week, but he has been under the microscope and he cannot afford to have a game like he did last weekend. Griffin has always had plenty of attention on him, but this is now getting to another level and a tough loss against the 49ers could be what gets the team to make a move.

Griffin has played in four games this season and has three picks along with two TDs and he also is completing over 70 percent of his passes. Griffin has only attempted 100 so that is a bit misleading and while he is at 72 percent, it does not describe how his play has looked in the context of games. Griffin missed DeSean Jackson badly multiple times on Sunday and Gruden was critical of those throws and his footwork on dropbacks. Gruden was forceful in his comments about the overall team and now he is expecting some improvement.

The teams plays the Niners this week and then they have to travel to play the Colts and that will be an interesting matchup with Andrew Luck and Griffin facing off. The Colts will not be an easy game and if the Redskins continue losing or Griffin continues struggling, Gruden may have no choice but to make a move. Dan Snyder loves his franchise quarterback and possibly to a fault and that could once again lead to some major changes after the coaching staff was fired last season.
