China is now 2-0 in the 2012 London Olympics after defeated Croatia's Women's Basketball Team Monday morning. Led by Nan Chen's game-high 28 points, China was able to spank Croatia, 83-56.
This one could have been considered a game early on. The first quarter finished 24-21 in favor of the Chinese. Then in the second quarter they built a bigger lead, but nothing exaggerated. At the half, the score was 39-31.
The second half got out of hand for Croatia as they were down by 19 points entering the fourth quarter.
Captain Lijie Miao had 17 points and completed the double-double with 10 assists in the game. She also had 5 rebounds and 1 block.
As a team, China shot 54 percent from within the three-point line. Their shot from long range was off as they only hit 2/13 threes they took all game.
For Croatia their backs are up against the wall. They would need the USA to lose in their match against Angola in order to remain alive in the preliminaries.
With the loss they are now 0-2 and sit in last place of the Group A pool.
Credit has to be given to Sandra Mandir, the 34-year-old veteran. She played 37 minutes and scored 22 points while grabbing 5 rebounds.
For their next matchups, China will face Angola and Croatia will play against the Czech Republic.
