Both Serena Williams and Venus Wiliams can say they won twice today. They finished a perfect Monday of tennis with a victory over Romanians Simona Halep and Sorana Cirstea in two straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

With the victory, the Wiliams Sisters proceed to the second round and prepare to face Angelique Kerber and Sabine Lisicki.

The gold medals belongs to the Williams Sisters as the are the 2008 Beijing Women's Doubles champions.

And play like champions they did had 27 winners and won 57 total points.

The Serena and Venus lost the first game, but followed up by winning three straight games. They closed out the set by winning the last two games.

In the fourth set, they immediately took the 1-0 lead. After a 1-1 tie in the set, they again won three consecutive games to take a 4-1 advantage. Halep and Cirstea won the sixth game but lost the last two and ceded way for the Williams Sisters to advance.

Unforced errors and issues converting in the first serve cost Team Williams from dispatching the Romanians quicker in this match.

They went 60 percent on the first serve and had four unforced errors in both matches.

The Williams Sisters will face Kerber and Lisciki on Wednesday August 1st.
