According to Jon Morosi, the Atlanta Braves will get Reed Johnson and Paul Maholm from the Chicago Cubs. The deal was announced on Monday night.

Ken Rosenthal tweeted that the Braves have sent 21-year-old Arodys Vizcaino, who came off of Tommy John surgery and 25-year-old Jaye Chapman. Both are members of the Gwinnett Braves. 

What we do know is that the Braves will get a left handed pitcher in Maholm and a right handed veteran bat on their bench.

Johnson, who started out his career with the Toronto Blue Jays, is hitting .307 in 180 plate appearances and has a .361 on-base percentage.

Maholm is a left handed arm the Braves could desperately use. They have a struggling Mike Minor as the only lefty in their starting rotation. 

Jair Jurrjens has struggled, Tim Hudson is inconsistent and is coming off of back surgery, Tommy Hanson just picked up his 12th win of the year and the youngster Randall Delgado has had his shining moments here and there.

Maholm brings over a 3.74 ERA with a 9-6 record from Chicago. 

During the Chicago Cubs' game on Monday night, a few beat writers and analysts tweeted that Reed Johnson had been removed from the game. Following this tweet, Boston Red Sox's beat writer Pete Abe tweeted that Ryan Sweeney had been removed from the Sox's outfield. 

Ken Rosenthal tweeted a few minutes later that the Red Sox and the Cubs had not made a deal trading their outfielders.

Mark Bowman, Braves' beat writer, then followed by adding that the team could use Reed Johnson's services.

Most recently, after the trade occurred, he informed fans that young arms like Delgado, Minor, Julio Teheran and a few of the Braves' draft picks were not involved in the deal.
