Olympics 2012 Women's Basketball: Team USA Beats Turkey in Preliminary Game 89-58

The U.S. Women's Basketball Team won their third straight preliminary match up versus Turkey by the score of 89-58.

Led by Angel McCoughtry who scored a game-high 18  points, Team USA easily beat their opponent towards the end of the game

The game started out close as leads were exchanged between the two teams until the 1 minute mark of the first quarter. The U.S. eventually took the lead on Angel McCoughtry free throws with 55 seconds left to play.

The U.S. went into the second quarter with just a three-point lead, but like they have usually done in their previous games, they were able to pull out to a large margin by the end of the first half.

They outscored Turkey 22-10 and took a 14-4 run 6 minutes into the second quarter. They finished the half with a 15-point lead.

Turkey was a worthy opponent, they cut the lead down to single-digits with 6:19 left to play in the third quarter and then down to six with five minutes left in the game.

With less than three minutes to play, Turkey again shrunk the U.S. lead to five, but McCoughtry completed an end one making it an eight-point game once again and then followed with a small run to push the lead back up to 12.

The fourth quarter became a 26-11 routing as the U.S. finished with a strong performance.
