Olympics 2012 Women's Soccer Finals Schedule: Time and Day of US vs. Japan Match

The United States and Japan will meet up in the Women's Soccer Final as they are the last two teams standing.

Japan had to get through Canada, two ties, one with Sweden and another with South Africa. Japan shutout Brazil in the quarterfinals and beat France on Monday to qualify for the final.

They were the first team to qualify for the battle for the gold and silver medal.

The United States' Women's team defeated France, Colombia and North Korea during the qualifiers. The U.S. shutout New Zealand in the qualifiers on Friday and defeated Canada in an epic 4-3 victory in overtime.

Both countries met in the 2011 World Cup where they had to settle the match with penalty shots. At the end of regulation and extra time, the score was still 2-2.

In the penalty shoot-out, The U.S. misses its first three shots and Japan went on to win the shoot-out 3-1, crowning them as the 2011 Germany World Cup champions.

In their predictions prior to the beginning of the London 2012 Olympics, Sports Illustrated had the U.S. team beating Japan in the final match as they looked to "avenge" their World Cup defeat.

The U.S. Women's Soccer team will get their opportunity on Thursday August 9th at 2:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. GMT.
