The United States and the Dominican Republic will clash in the Women's Indoor Volleyball Quarterfinals at 2 p.m. ET/7 p.m. GMT.
The U.S. team has completely dominated so far in the Olympics as they go into the quarterfinals unbeaten. They have been so dominant that they have only surrendered 2-17 sets they have played in the Olympics.
They have gone through South Korea, Brazil, China, Serbia and Turkey to get this far into the tournament.
For the Dominican Republic, their story has been completely different.
They did not lose all five games, but it did seem this way at first. They lost their first three games against Italy, Russia and suffered a shutout to Japan.
The Dominican Republic turned things around in their penultimate match as they shutout Great Britain and then in their last match they shoutout Algeria.
With the wins, they were able to capture the last spot in the Group A pool. Meanwhile, the United States captured 15 points, finishing with the best record and points totaled in both groups. China finished in second place in Group B with a 3-2 record and 9 points. They were the closest team behind the U.S.
The odds are completely against them, but the Dominican Republic has showed determination and focus throughout the Olympics.
