Canada and France are caught up in a very tight and intense match as the score is tied at zero at the half.

Both teams have had their opportunities to score and have barely missed.

Christine Sinclair of Canada, missed a shot that went right above the net.

The best opportunity any team had was when Elodie Thomis of France made a run at the goal. She was standing a few yards away from Canada's goalkeeper, Erin McLeod when she kicked the ball towards the next, but McLeod stuffed it for the save.

Thomis had another chance to score as time was winding down in the added minute of play, but she missed write right of the net.

Canada and France did not meet during group play at these Olympic Games, but faced three common opponents during the tournament: Japan, Sweden and the United States.

Japan defeated both countries lost 2-1 with Canada's coming in the first game of the tournament and France's coming more recently, on Monday in the tournament semifinals.

The Swedish played the Canadians to a 2-2 draw in the group stage, while France was able to best Sweden by a 2-1 score in the semifinals. Finally, as opposed to Monday's U.S.-Canada match, which required overtime after a controversial call by the official, the U.S. soundly defeated France to begin the Olympic tournament, bouncing back from an early 0-2 deficit, scoring four unanswered goals.
