Team USA will defend their 2008 Olympic Beijing gold medal on Sunday. They will face the talented team of Spain.
The U.S. team will face a talented Spain team with a roster packed with NBA talent. They will face the likes of Pau Gasol, Serge Ibaka, Marc Gasol, Jose Calderon.
These players make a deadly combination against the U.S. because they lack the height that Spain possess with the Gasol Brothers and Ibaka can protect the paint with his block ability.
The action begins at 10 a.m. ET/3 p.m. GMT. The match will follow the bronze match between Argentina and Russia.
Both the U.S. and Spain played these teams in the semifinals. The U.S. got rid of Argentina 109-83, defeating them for the third time in about three weeks. Russia lost a tight game against Spain.
Jose Calderon has been the rock of the team. He brought back Spain on Friday hitting pivotal three-point baskets that helped them tie and take an important lead in the game. Spain won that game 67-59.
It is already known that Team USA is packed with All-Stars. Though they lack the height, they have the most dynamic ballers in the planet with LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant. Carmelo Anthony has had strong games in the Olympics as well as Deron Williams.
Anybody can win it for the Men's team, similar to how the U.S. Women's Basketball team has a different star shining every night.
It will be very disappointing to see the USA team lose. Spain has a great chance, but the U.S. has the deepest bench in the Olympics. Kevin Love will provide an important role in Sunday's game and he has been playing well as of late.
