NYCFC and the Colorado Rapids are playing on the Major League Soccer schedule on Saturday and after New York City FC won at home at Yankee Stadium last week, they play at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and the game starts at 4 pm ET as David Villa leads his side as the team is leading the eastern conference.
New York is undefeated through two games and while that isn't much, it's a big start for the opening of a franchise and they got their first win last week. NYCFC won at home for the first time at Yankee Stadium with a 2-0 win over the Revolution and David Villa was front and center for that. Villa is the star of the team and he scored a goal and it came after the team pulled a 1-1 draw with Orlando to open the season on the road.
This is the first matchup ever between these two teams and it comes after the Rapids were off with a bye and they had opened with a draw against the Union to start the season. Even though it's early, New York is sitting on top of the east with Orlando and they come in after getting their first win of the season and that was impressive since New England was the runner up for the MLS Cup last year.
Villa had an assist and a goal in the win against the Revolution and he will be looking for more on Saturday. Coming up the team has games against the Union in a home and home, Sporting Kansas City as well as Portland and they will also travel to play against the Chicago Fire. After that the team has matchups with the New York Red Bulls along with Real Salt Lake and the Houston Dynamo.
NYCFC has four points on the season with Orlando ahead of Columbus and DC United. In the west Dallas has six points ahead of the Galaxy with four points, while Seattle and Houston have three points to open things up.
