The Men's Singles quarterfinals are set to take off on Thursday as David Ferrer (4) will meet Janko Tipsarevic (8) The winner of this match will then meet in the semifinals either Novak Djokovic or Juan Martin Del Potro in the semifinals
David Ferrer has quietly worked his way into the quarterfinals. He has defeated Kevin Anderson in three straight sets 6-4, 6-2 and 7-6. Ferrer was then forced to work a little harder in the last set of his second match against Igor Sijsling as he eventually won 6-2, 6-3, 7(14)-6(12).
It took him four sets to beat American Lleyton Hewitt 7(11)-6(9), 4-6, 6-3, 6-0. In his last victory he defeated Frenchman Richard Gasquet 7-5, 7-6, 6-4.
He will face the No. 8 ranked player in Men's Singles. His first victim was Guillaume Rufin, which he battled back from an 0-2 set hole and won the final sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
He defeated Brian Baker 6-4,6-3, 6-4. He then went through Grega Zemlija 6-4, 6-3, 7-5. Most recently, he went through Philipp Kohlschreiber (19) 6-3, 7-6, 6-2.
This match is scheduled to take off at around 1:30 p.m. ET in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Already in the semifinals are Andy Murray (3) and Tomas Berdych (6). They will face each other and decide who goes into the Men's Singles Finals and play the winner on Ferrer and Tipsarevic's side of the bracket.
