Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro will meet in the 2012 U.S. Open quarterfinals Thursday night. Djokovic, the Men's Singles No. 2 ranked player will face del potro, who is the No. 7 ranked player in the world.

On Wednesday, del Potro defeated American, Andy Roddick. Not only did he disqualify Roddick from the U.S. Open, but he made sure Roddick went straight into retirement after the defeat.

He will now be a part of American tennis history as Roddick became the leading American player following the Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi era.

Novak Djokovic will try to have better luck than Roddick as he attempts to make the 2012 Men's Singles semifinals. Earlier today, David Ferrer advanced and will now await a victory between these two players.

Del Potro is after his first Grand Slam title since winning the U.S. Open in 2009. Djokovic is the defending 2011 champion.

Djokovic defeated Paolo Lorenzi, Rogerio Dutra Silva, Julien Benneteau (31) and Stanislas Wawrinka (18) in three straight sets so far in the 2012 U.S. Open.

Del Potro has not breezed by the tournament as easily. He defeated Florent Serra in three sets, Ryan Harrison in four, Leonardy Mayer in three and it took him four sets to defeat Roddick.
