Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander remains out this season while dealing with soreness in his throwing arm and after undergoing an MRI, the team confirmed that he is dealing with a triceps strain and manager Brad Ausmus said a return date to the rotation has not been set.
The Tigers have been off to a strong start this season and they are first in the AL Central even without Verlander pitching. Verlander was placed on the DL for the first time in his career after dealing with soreness in his arm following an injury in March. The team said earlier in the season that Verlander would not come back until the pain in his arm subsides.
According to James Schmehl of MLive.com, team trainer Kevin Rand said that Verlander had an MRI and that while nothing has changed, Verlander has not yet been able to "make a step that (the team) wanted", so he will remain on the sidelines.
The Tigers have been no worse for the wear without Verlander or Max Scherzer this season, as they are ranked in the top five in the league in ERA. The team has had strong pitching from David Price and Alfredo Simon and the team has a 2.50 ERA as a team.

"When he wasn't able to make a step that we wanted, that's when we decided to dive into some testing at that point in time," Rand said, according to MLB.com. "Because it gave us a little bit more concern. But it turned out everything was as we expected from the beginning."
