The Philadelphia Eagles have Matt Barkley on the trade block and could look at a Sam Bradford trade after Chip Kelly signed Tim Tebow to a free agent deal and this comes as the team is reportedly interested in moving up to take Marcus Mariota in the draft and the team could move Bradford with Barkley to get it done.
The Eagles have been one of the most active teams this offseason and after adding Tebow, there is a chance that Barkley could get traded. According to Pro Football Talk, Barkley is being shopped around and has been on the trading block since around when the Eagles worked out Tebow. Reports had the Eagles and Dolphins talking a deal about Barkley, but the team opted to go with Josh Freeman. The Eagles have now signed Tebow and that puts Barkley's future up in the air.
Barkley has not played much in two seasons since getting drafted and with Mark Sanchez and Tebow on the roster, the QB position is getting crowded. The team has Sam Bradford as the starter (for now) and Sanchez as the backup, leaving Tebow and Barkley to battle it out. With how little Barkley has played in the past two seasons, it's likely that Kelly is giving Tebow the edge at third string.
While Tebow is not a classic NFL quarterback, Kelly could look at the third string as a change of pace or specific situation option and that makes Tebow way more valuable than Barkley at the position. Barkley barely played last season when Nick Foles was injured, with Sanchez starting all of those games, meaning Kelly does not have much confidence in him as a pro player. Barkley has some value, but he only will net a late round pick, but Kelly likely is fine with that compensation if they get it.
The Browns reportedly have interest in Bradford and Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk speculated that a deal between the teams could happen at the draft. Florio reported on a potential three way trade that would give the Eagles a high pick for Mariota, the Browns Bradford and a third team a package of draft picks. According to Florio, Bradford is "vulnerable" to a trade until he signs and extension and based on reports, talks have been slow between the two sides.
Bradford is coming off of two surgeries on his knee, but he is still a coveted player and the Browns reportedly offered a first round pick for him. The team has Josh McCown and Johnny Manziel, but the future for Manziel is uncertain and that could spark a move for the Browns. The Eagles have said they will not "mortgage the future" for one player, but many around the league still think Kelly will target Mariota. The Titans have the number two pick and the teams that want to trade for Mariota likely will have to move up to that selection to get him.
