NBA News And Rumors 2012: Nets GM Billy King Believes That Based On Talent The Team Is Capable Of Winning A Championship

Brooklyn Nets GM Billy King sat down with reporters Wednesday at the team's practice facility and spoke about a few things the team will do in order to prepare for the start of training camp next Monday, Oct. 1.

Among several things, King said he believes the Nets are capable of possibly winning a championship, assuming the team stays healthy.

"I think we've got a lot of talent, I think we've got a good team. And now, it's going to be those pieces, how quickly they gel,'' he said. "I think we have a team that is a playoff team, on paper. I think we have a team that can withstand injuries, because we have depth.

"But as I've always said: Can we win a championship? Yeah. But it takes luck, in an NBA season, to do that. You've got to be healthy, for the most part, you've got to get some breaks - the ball's got to bounce your way some times.''

King was also asked if gives himself credit for upgrading the team's talent level over the summer, acquiring Joe Johnson, and re-signing Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries among others.

"I haven't done anything,'' he said. "I've brought players in, but we haven't played a game.

"At the end of the day, I did what I was supposed to do, with my staff in putting together a team,'' he continued. "Now, it's Avery (Johnson) and the coaches - they get to play the games and we get evaluate and see if there's any tinkering needs to be done to make it better.''
