During this off season the New York Knicks have been adding the necessary pieces in order to become title contenders out the Eastern Conference. Recently Rasheed Wallace worked out with the Knicks, and is apparently contemplating coming out of retirement.
According to current Knicks center Tyson Chandler, Wallace looked good, and Chandler would be happy to welcome him as a teammate.
"I hope he [comes]," Chandler said. "I don't know what the situation is, butHe's a great communicator on defense and we know he can knock down the open 3 and jump shot.''
"To have myself and Amar'e [Stoudemire] with Marcus Camby and Rasheed as backups ... That's pretty nice."
Wallace last played on the Boston Celtics back in 2010 as a bit player, helping them make a playoff run. Since then, the 38-year-old has been retired but recently was working out for New York.
Adding Wallace would give the Knicks another one of the oldest players in the NBA. They already have three of the six oldest players in the league. Wallace would be the ninth-oldest player if were to come out of retirement.
Chandler and many of his teammates have been participating in informal workouts at the team's practice facility. One additional set of eyes there this week has been Hall of Fame center Hakeem Olajuwon, who has been working with Chandler, Stoudemire and others on post moves.
He said he has noticed a different feeling around the facility, as the players get ready for training camp to kick off Monday.
"It's a feeling that you have before you win," he said. "I'm excited about it."
