Ghana and France meet in the semifinals at the 2012 U17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan. The action kicksoff at 8 a.m. ET/5 p.m. AZT.
So far in the tournament, Ghana has gone 3-1 in their four matches in the tournament.
After losing their first game at the World Cup against Germany, they won three consecutive games. Their second win, a 2-0 shutout of China, gave them what they needed to enter the quarterfinals as they finished in second place in the Group D standings.
Last week in their quarterfinal matchup, the young ladies from Ghana shocked Japan's team with a 1-0 victory.
Ghana will go against a French team that sneaked their way into the quarterfinals. They finished their two matches in draws 0-0 against the USA and 1-1 against Korea DPR. They beat Gambia 10-2 to get into the second stage.
France also surprised their quarterfinal opponents, Nigeria, as they tied 0-0 through regulation and then won the match on penalty kicks. They outscored Nigeria 5-3 in the shootout to advance to the semis.
France comes into the match with the offensive advantage as they have scored 11 goals in their four games in this tournament.
Ghana holds the defensive advantage as they have held opponents scoreless after they gave up two goals two Germany in their loss.
