New York Giants Rumors and Injury News: Landon Collins Suffers Knee Injury In First NFL Preseason Game Against Bengals

Landon Collins suffered a mild injury during his first preseason game. This injury just hinders the Giant's second round draft pick even further during his rookie season. Collins suffered an MCL sprain which could keep the first round pick out for some time. Head coach of the New York Giants, Tom Coughlin stated

"I really don't know how long he will be out, a lot of that is up to the individual."

In regards to the playing time that Collins will miss, Coughlin stated

"He definitely needs it, he needed last night. In order to be able to be in position... I think... to where he's seeing a great deal of what takes place in the National Football League. He didn't get much last night."

This is a big blow to Collins because he currently needs all the time he can get to learn the Giant's defense. After losing Antrel Rolle to free agency the Giants traded up to get Collins in the 2015 NFL draft. Collins has so far been slow to learn the Giant's defense and reach full NFL speed. Collins injury wouldn't be so bad if it was not compounded by the injuries to the Giant's other defensive backs, Mykkele Thompson, Nat Berhe, Jayron Hosley, and Trumaine McBride.

Thompson and Berhe's injuries are serious and there is no timetable for their return however the Giants have signed Brandon Meriweather to replace some of the lost production.
