The latest fight making NFL headlines is between the Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver and Baltimore Ravens star wide receiver, Steve Smith Sr.
The fight occurred with only seconds left in the first quarter and resulted in both players being ejected from the contest. The incident seemed to be sparked by the brutal hit on Ravens wide receiver Kamar Aiken. Aiken was lifted off of the ground and thrown to the turf headfirst resulting in reactions from both sidelines.
Smith and Culliver confronted one another as the play ended. Smith and Culliver jostled for several seconds before players from both sidelines came in. Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh left the sidelines to help deter any further action from any of the Ravens players on the field. Harbaugh was seen removing players from the field however got into a shouting match with Washington Redskin's head coach Jay Gruden. Harbaugh stated,
"It wasn't getting calmed down very quickly. We get the memos about fighting, so, I figured, 'Let me go out there and just kind of get our guys out of the way and it'll be fine.' That's the way it worked out."
After Smith was ejected he went to the sidelines and watched the game with his family.
