Tigers Pitching Rotation for World Series 2012, Justin Verlander Takes Ball Game 1

The Detroit Tigers look poised to bring the World Series trophy back to their city as they get set to play Game 1 of the World Series. Here is the pitching rotation and their stats in the 2012 playoffs.

First off, you have to begin with the ace of the staff and probably the overall best pitcher in baseball. Who needs a bullpen when Justin Verlander becomes his own closer late in the game?

Check out these World Series predictions once the Tigers made it to the big dance because this man has been lights out in the 2012 postseason. He must be listening to Jay-Z and Kanye's "Who Gon' Stop Me." Or maybe he just learned how to control his adrenaline.

In three games pitched in the 2012 postseason, Verlander has only given up two earned runs. And it could be easily said that the rest of the pitching staff is feeding off Verlander's performance. Either that, or they just took advantage of a struggling Yankees lineup.

The pitching rotation stays the same from the ALCS.

The Tigers have the advantage. The will be on five days rest giving them time to get their rotation back in order as the Giants are scrambling to get their starters ready for the series. Though not certain, it looks as if Ryan Vogelsong might be pitching Game 1 for the San Francisco Giants.

Tigers PItching Rotation
Game 1 Starter: Justin Verlander: 0.74 ERA 24.1 Innings Pitched, 10 H, 2 ER, (Both ERs have been home runs), 5 BB and 25 Ks
Game 2 Starter: Doug Fister:  1.35 ERA 13.1 IP, 2 ER, 0 HRs, 6 BB, 13 Ks
Game 3 Starter: Anibal Sanchez: 1.35 ERA, 13.1 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 1 HR, 5 BB 10 Ks
Game 4 Starter: Max Scherzer: 0.82 ERA, 11 IP, 5 H, 1 ER 3 BB 18 Ks

We have seen this performance before from Fister, but without a doubt Sanchez has shocked many as he has been lights out in the playoffs. The Giants have seen him before, so they are familiar with his pitches, but he looks like a completely different pitcher from his Florida/Miami Marlins days.

Game 1 is at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Wednesday.
