For some reason, people are always asking for the president's opinion about everything from foreign policy to education and once every year the president has the tough task of taking sides in the World Series.
This year, President Obama, who is known as an avid Chicago White Sox fan, did not clearly state who he was siding with in the 2012 Fall Classic, but it sounds like he might be rooting for his division rival Detroit Tigers.
As always, like any president would do, he started neutral.
"They're both great teams," said Obama as he sat next to Jay Leno. Then little by little, the truth came out and Obama based his pick in a way only a president can.
"Detroit," the president began saying as Tiger fans quickly interrupted him, "they beat my White Sox out of a pennant. They're an outstanding team. I will say that, I have spent a lot of time in Detroit. You know, I did not want Detroit to go bankrupt. In this particular World Series I may be a little partial."
I don't want to sit here and be the one to evaluate the President's World Series pick, but from the looks of it he might lose some votes in San Francisco and Chicago after that choice.
Okay, that really won't happen, but White Sox fans might question the President's devotion to their team. This is like being a Red Sox fan and saying you pick the Yankees to win the World Series.
